About

Spencecliff: A Legacy of Aloha and Revival In the heart of Hawaiʻi, Spencecliff Corp.

once symbolized a golden era of hospitality, embodying the Aloha spirit through its chain of restaurants and entertainment venues. This legacy, intricately woven into Hawaiʻi's history, came to an end in 1986 when the company was sold to Nittaku Enterprises. Yet, the spirit of Spencecliff lived on in the memories of those who experienced its heyday, from the iconic Queen's Surf to the beloved Barefoot Bar.

Chantal Moearii Weaver, daughter of co-founder Spencer "Spence" Weaver, is on a mission to rekindle her family's legacy. With the resurgence of the Spencecliff name, she envisions a revival not just of the company but of a cultural heritage that brings back the spirit of Aloha. Chantal's plans extend beyond a mere corporate revival; she aims to breathe life into the old Hawaiʻi, fostering a renaissance of Hawaiian music, dance, and the Aloha spirit that once flourished in Waikiki.

At the heart of Chantal's vision is the creation of an endowment for disadvantaged youth who aspire to careers in the culinary and hospitality arts. Additionally, she plans to produce educational tools such as a high-end documentary and a coffee table book to celebrate and preserve this rich heritage.

To support these initiatives, a fundraiser will be held at the Ala Moana Hotel on September 12, 2024. This event will gather former employees and friends of Spencecliff, along with many community leaders, to celebrate and contribute to the revival of this cherished legacy. Chantal is determined to restore the dignity and joy that Spencecliff once brought to its employees and patrons alike.

Spencecliff's story continues to captivate the hearts of those who yearn for the enchantment of old Hawaiʻi. In this new chapter, Spencecliff legacy is poised to become a beacon of cultural preservation and community connection for islanders and tourists alike, a tribute to the past and a hope for the future.
